Introduction
This page explains how battle damage, defense and effects work in Outlaw Troopers.
Damage Types
- There are four types of damage in Encounters:
- Standard Damage - Damages shield before armor.
- Piercing Damage - Ignores shield and damages armor directly.
- Elemental Damage - Damages shield before armor and has a 35% chance to burn enemies.
- Irresistible Damage - Cannot be resisted or blocked (even by Aegis).
e.g. Omni (Dominator) removes 5% of your shield on hit.
e.g. Unstable Calibrator (Gear) sacrifices armor and shield to reset all skill cooldowns.
- Each Ship’s weapon type determines your basic attack damage type:
- Projectile Ships - Standard Damage.
- Missile Ships - Piercing Damage.
- Corrosive Ships - Elemental Damage.
Note: Gear abilities retain their own damage type (e.g. Solar Igniter always deals Elemental Damage, regardless of your Ship type).
Critical System
- All damage types can now critically hit.
- Base Critical Chance: 5%
- Base Critical Multiplier: 100%
AOE Target Limit
- Basic attack: 1 target (default)
- AOE skills: 3 targets (default)
- You can increase these limits through Gears, Troopers, or the Tech Tree.
Note: Summoned or converted units have their own target limit. Only Duchess DunVella Trooper increases their hit targets (and grants other buffs).
Defensive Mechanics
Armor and Shield
- Shield absorbs damage before armor.
- While you have shield remaining, you take 30% less damage.
- Armor: When it reaches 0, your Ship is defeated.
- Piercing and Irresistible Damage bypass shield and hit armor directly.
Resistances
- Each damage type has its own resistance (Standard / Piercing / Elemental).
- Maximum Resistance: 75%.
- Resistance can be reduced or go negative due to enemy effects (e.g. Immunizer Dominator), making you take more damage.
- The Agwar Ship Galaxy can increase the maximum resistance cap beyond 75%.
Evade
- Evade only works on attacks that deal Standard Damage.
- Maximum Evade Chance: 75%.
